Sketches :: Personal Portfolio Website

Below are initial concept sketches for my personal portfolio website.  I am going for an easy to navigate homepage with links that will remain visible through all pages.  So when a new link is clicked the top navigation will remain the same and only the body will change allowing for easy use.  Initial sketches are for homepage only.

Environmental e-Card - TreeBorn Inc. - Final

For my final design I created a front, middle, and back for an e-Card to promote environmental awareness.  I came up with a fictitious non-profit company called TreeBorn Inc., that promotes environmental awareness for the younger generation and focuses on environmental stability.  The e-Card promotes cleaning up and planting trees in order to build a foundation for a sustainable future environment for younger generations.  I kept it simple to get the point across and used some of the blending, layering, and text techniques learned throughout the course.

My environmental E-card focuses on cleaning up the environment and re-growing trees in order to ensure a quality environment for the future.  The fictitious non-profit company TreeBorn Inc. focuses on providing youth programs with a foundation to clean up and create a environmentally sound future.

Louis Armstrong Book Cover - Part II

While creating this book cover I was able to use some of the latest techniques we learned to manipulate pictures and lettering by adding drop shadows and different colors.  Although challenging at first these skills are great to have when working with the CS6 software.  For the back cover I used a silhouette of Louisiana and then added an American flag. I thought this was fitting since Louis's nickname was Ambassador Satch, and he was from Louisiana.  The rest of the project was a lot of resizing and playing around with text/picture options.

Jazz Book Cover Design - Louis Armstrong

Jazz music has been in my life as long as I can remember.  My Grandfather is a trumpet player so I would either be listening to him or his favorite Jazz artist “Satchmo,” Louis Armstrong.  So for me, choosing Louis Armstrong for a book cover was an easy choice.

Louis Armstrong is the original King of Jazz and lived the American Dream, going from rags to riches by doing what he loved.  He was not only an influence on music but also on American culture.

Autism Event Poster (Part 2)

Here's my final artwork for an Autism Event Poster.  I found the magic wand helpful and used some other shortcut techniques more efficiently this time around.  I downloaded a special font off www.dafont.com for my heading.  Any feedback on this would be appreciated!

Photomontage Final :: Music Is Life

Overall this project was a great learning experience and introduction into layering multiple images and objects.  I look forward to continuing to get faster and learning my way around Photoshop CS6.

My final image for the photomontage Music Is Life attempts to show a connection between music and nature.  Music is special because it inspires all aspects of our lives.  I love electronic music and enjoying mother nature, so that's what inspired this project.

In my photomontage I took multiple images and combined them into one.  My go to tool was the lasso, which was a little time consuming but not bad once I got the hang of it.  Instead of using people for the crowd I used fish jumping out of the water as if they were partying to the DJ's music.

Looking forward to seeing everyone's projects and for some feedback on the art!

Photomontage :: Music Is Life

In this sketch exercise to design a promotional photomontage for a fictitious artist or band, I developed a few different ideas.

I like the idea of focusing on the artist with the audience/scenery in the backdrop and will develop the message in the next design stage to come.

The idea I have is to focus more on the music/genre and its effect on people/nature, rather than the actual artist, as I believe music revolves around life. Ideally the title for my design will be "Music Is Life."

I'm looking to add a few layers of scenery into the backdrop to enhance my ideas.

Being new to the actual design stages of generating ideas into images, I look forward to seeing how this develops.

I am also looking forward to feedback as well as viewing
everyone else's work!
